Dr Paul Wendon-Blixrud
Clinical Psychologist
Consultations
The work that I do is not just about applying strategies in certain situations. As a clinical psychologist I understand the individual as a whole and their goals. With this understanding of the ‘whole person’ we are in a better position to help them achieve their goals and have a longer lasting impact. If working with people under the age of 18 I will need to meet with parent(s) also to gain a full understanding of the individual.
“I need to know you before I can help you, then we work together to achieve your goals”.
1st Session (assessment) (£150)
Approx 90 minutes, admin, learning about your goals, history, key life events, some questionnaires, etc. to gain a holistic understanding of you.
There will be sheets to complete in-between sessions to keep a record of thoughts, feelings, situations, etc.
Depending on the sport / situation we may have an additional session whilst you are competing / playing your sport – in situ.
2nd Session (feedback)
Feedback of assessment session providing a holistic psychological understanding of the individual (e.g. why they do x and y), also known as a formulation.
Also, recommendations as to what can help the individual achieve their goals.
Subsequent Sessions (intervention and reviews)
The interventions are dependent on the formulation (created from the assessment material), these could include learning new skills (e.g. mindfulness), psychological work (helping the individual adapt their beliefs / thoughts so they are more accurate and therefore improve their daily / sporting functioning).
Appropriate measure will be used (to measure change) depending on the area of change that we are working on.
Cost - £150 per hour
Other elements that will always be considered include
